Ford India Begins Auto Parts Exports To China - shipment of car parts - Brief Article

Ford India Ltd. said it had shipped the first batch of components to Ford Motor Co's passenger car joint venture in China, making it the first Indian carmaker to export cars or components to China. Ford's Indian unit will supply parts for a a model similar to the Ikon sedan to be launched in China, Ford India Managing Director David Friedman said.

Ford first built the Ikon -- based on the successful Fiesta model -- in India, in 1999. "We will be the sole supplier of these parts to the China plant as these are parts that we already produce in India for the Ikon, that China will be launching next year."
