FRANKFURT, Germany - Siemens AG said Monday that it had completed a $16.72 billion deal to sell its auto electronics unit VDO to car parts and tiremaker Continental AG.


Software defects spark recall

FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd the China joint venture of Volkswagen AG and First Automotive Works Group is recalling 4 076 imported Audi Q7 sport-utility vehicles in China for defects in software. Vehicles to be retrieved were manufactured between June 2006 and July 2007 the Audi division of FAW-VW said in a statement yesterday. The problematic software controls the opening of the trunk and the defect could cause safety issues when users load and unload cargo. The company has offered free repairs. Consumers can check their vehicles by phoning 0431-8599 0888. The recall is its second this month. Audi said no injuries had been reported.
