Advantages of Owning Your Own Tanning Bed

Tanning beds have become a regular part of many people’s beauty routine in Western society. The tanning salon industry are bringing in outstanding profits due to their rise in popularity, but there is now an increasing number of people enjoying the convenience of installing a tanning bed in their own home.

Having your own tanning bed can cost an awful lot initially, as they don’t come cheap, but in the long run they are much more cost effective than regularly visits to the tanning salon. If you use commercial tanning beds regularly you are probably paying out over $100 a month getting tan. So over the course of a year you will have saved in excess of $1,200 through owning your own tanning bed. Maintenance costs are very small. The bulbs are the main expense, but these only need to be replaced every 3 to 5 years.

A home tanning bed is much more convenient than fitting a visit to a salon into your time table. With many people leading increasingly busy lives it is a great advantage to be able to fit in your tanning time whenever it suits you, day or night, and you don’t have to worry about commuting time.

Your friends and family can all benefit from your tanning bed and save money on tanning salon fees too. An increasing number of tanning enthusiasts are grouping together with friends and relatives to share the cost of buying a tanning bed, which is a great option if you can’t comfortably afford the expense on your own.

Owning your own tanning bed can be much more relaxing and pleasurable than using a salon. You have more privacy and can enjoy advantages such as being able to listen to your own music while tanning.

Tanning beds – despite the dangers - do have some benefits other than giving you a golden tan. Around 1 in 20 people suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) where the cold winter months and lack of sunlight can lead to depression. Tanning beds can be an effective cure for SAD as they essentially serve the same purpose as the sun. Even if you do not suffer from ‘winter blues’, most people still experience a rush of endorphins when using a tanning bed which can improve the mood and decrease stress levels.

Although many dermatologists disagree about the beneficial effects of tanning beds, a lot of acne sufferers and those with other skin complaints such as psoriasis claim that using the beds has been valuable in clearing up or lessening the effects of their condition.
